We do this because we know sometimes finding a fitness job (or any job) can be a difficult process, but with our help, the right qualifications and bags of enthusiasm, you couldn’t have a better starting point!
To give you a little bit of extra help we’ve put together a few pointers to guide you in the right direction whilst finding a job.
Your Options
When you’re new to the industry, finding a job with an established health club or gym can be difficult without experience. To put into a contextual example, in 2011 there were around 40,000 Personal Trainers in the UK - this has increased incrementally over the successive years to a point wherein 2019 there were approximately 70,000 Personal Trainers in some form of employment in the UK. Whilst it’s great news that year-on-year there are more employed or self-employed Personal Trainers, it also means there’s higher competition and demand for these roles. So, it’s important to either gain experience first or take a course with a pathway into one of these roles.
As an employee at a health club or gym, there’ll often be no need to pay to use onsite facilities, plus you’ll have a steady stream of potential clients walking in every day. You’ll also meet new people and make connections with other PTs.
Though you may be eager to go directly down the freelance route, keep in mind that this will involve training your own private clients whilst paying a fee for a suitable space. With time, hard work and a strong client base, you may feel it’s time to branch off on your own and begin work as an independent PT. Combining your experience with your marketing skills, you will be ready to promote yourself and your business.
Gain Experience
It’s important to bear in mind that although the industry is soaring, competition can be fierce. Experience is the key to giving you the edge above other applicants and will help lead the way to other opportunities. To help you land those sought-after placements, our career support team is on hand every step of the way, and our help will be available to you for three years after you qualify.
Ongoing Support
At The Training Room, we’re committed to providing support beyond your training which is why we’re able to open doors to some amazing career openings. To help you get your foot in the door, we promise each and every one of our Personal Training graduates an interview with some of the biggest names in fitness by working in partnership with leading employers.
