In March 2013 Neil Irving was the lucky winner of a competition run by us here at The Training Room (TTR), the UK’s largest training provider of Personal Trainers, in conjunction with Men’s Fitness magazine to win a FREE Personal Trainer Course.

Neil, a local to Northamptonshire, has had a diverse career history from DJing to his current career in Retail Management. He discovered a passion for fitness and health in early 2012 after a boxing injury meant a lot of recovery, strength based training in the gym. Neil attended his first Body Power Expo which was a turning point in his life, he became hooked on the fitness industry and decided it was definitely an industry he wanted to focus his career in.
He forecasted that to undergo a reputable PT course, would take him around a year to save to fund the course. Meanwhile, we launched a competition to win a FREE Personal Trainer course. Neil entered the competition and totally forgot about it until he received a life changing email informing him that he had won!
“I thought it was spam mail until I got a phone call following on from the email reinforcing that I had won and detailing my prize. I couldn’t believe I had won. It was really a dream come true. I’d been given a lifeline, I had to take it and run” Irving.
Neil opted for the Blended Learning Course, a part time course studying both at home and onsite at one of our 17 academies across the UK. To date he has completed two workshops out of seven and has discovered a real passion for the nutritional aspect of fitness and health, “I will be looking to pursue further education in nutrition after hopefully and successfully completing the course in March 2014” said Irving.
We always looks to sponsor individuals that want a change in their career to the fitness industry but may not have the means to do so. As a full service career provider, we help to support all students throughout their training and post-training through their Corporate Partnerships with the likes of Fitness First, David Lloyd, DW, PureGym and many more, guaranteeing a placement as a starting point for a fantastic career in an ever-growing, fast-paced industry.
Our Level 3 Personal Trainer course includes in-depth teaching about the human anatomy and physiology. Neil went on to express, “learning about the human anatomy and physiology has been the most enjoyable part of the course so far. Winning the competition from Men's Fitness magazine and TTR has given me the opportunity to pursue a career in an industry that I have so much passion for.”
We wish Neil the best of luck as he continues his journey towards his dream career!
