London 2012 Summary

Olympians 2012

The London 2012 Olympics finally came to an end on Sunday night at the spectacular musical closing ceremony. The Olympics has seen an exhilarating 16 days of competition that has united Great Britain, the world of sport, and has had us all on the edge of our seats. We can't help but agree with Lord Coe who said on Sunday "When our time came at Britain, we did it right."

When our time came at Britain, we did it right.

Team GB have done amazingly well and exceeded all expectations. We achieved 29 gold medals and an overall total of 65 medals, our biggest medal total since 1908, putting us in third place behind America and China. It has been truly extraordinary to watch, London 2012 has witnessed 44 world records and 117 Olympic records.

There are too many medal winning athletes to mention them all by name but here at The Training Room we would like to say special congratulations to our sponsored athletes Beth Tweddle and Ed Clancy. Beth is Britain's most successful gymnast, with three World, six European, seven British and now an Olympic medal to her name after winning bronze in the uneven bars. Meanwhile, Ed Clancy, track cyclist, not only won gold in the men's team pursuit but broke the world record twice in the process. We will soon be posting updates from all of our sponsored athletes so watch this space for all the latest.

So what now? Has the Olympics inspired you? Are you going to take up a new sport? Has the Olympics inspired you to join a gym? Or maybe you want the chance to one day work with these athletes...how about becoming a Personal Trainer?
