‘I’ve never been so emotional in my life’…’I needed to talk’…’I feel I’m a stronger person now’…’It’s OK to ask for help’
Support for mental health is crucial and it should no longer be a taboo subject. The Rugby Players Association (RPA) are paving the way by bringing mental health support to the forefront of their message.
The RPA have recently launched their #LiftTheWeight campaign – an initiative that’s looking to remove the stigma surrounding mental health. They’ve got some big names from the Rugby world backing their campaign too – so expect to see the likes of James Haskell, Jonny Wilkinson and Jono Kitto reaching out to players of all levels and putting their weight behind this worthy cause.
The Training Room was founded on matching passionate sports people with Health & Fitness courses and providing invaluable training courses.
We have been the preferred training provider and have built a great relationship with the RPA. We supported initiatives for retired and injured players to have a direction in their lives, and given them the opportunity to pursue meaningful careers when they’re no longer able to play.
We’re proud to continue to support the RPA with the fantastic work they’re doing; take a look at their video to see how their new campaign is getting heard:
‘People will always have varying degrees of "issues" whether it is a serious thing, or confidence to play, dealing with ups and downs or whatever it might be. I've found speaking to [someone about my issues has been] very useful in terms of preparing for games, how to deal with ups and downs, where others will let it go.’ – James Haskell
Support the cause, share the message and help to end mental health stigma. #LiftTheWeight
