What’s Cooking At The Training Room?

Chefs preparing food
Established in 2006, The Training Room started its life as a careers provider within the fitness industry, offering training to candidates looking to start a new career as a Personal Trainer. In 2014 The Training Room’s innovative training and support model was successfully extended to the beauty industry, and 2015 will see further course options added to The Training Room’s evolving prospectus. To date, The Training Room have successfully trained in excess of 20,000 students!

The Training Room is very proud of its reputation for creating ‘industry-ready’ professionals. Each student graduating from The Training Room is equipped with the skills necessary to forge a successful career, opening doors to job opportunities with The Training Room’s industry-leading partners in the respective industry sector. In fact, 2014 saw The Training Room place a significant 66% of personal training graduates into fitness roles, and a massive 72% of beauty students placed into roles in the beauty industry.

So what’s next? The Training Room recognises that readily qualified staff are in demand within the food and hospitality industry. The hospitality industry employs 1.7 million people, which equates to around 6% of the working population in the UK (Source: www.thecater.com). To help meet this demand, The Training Room are proud to announce their launch into the world of catering with the all-new Professional Cookery & Hospitality course, kicking-off in spring 2015.

This level 2 qualification is designed to help students launch their career in the food and hospitality arena at industry-ready level. Typically this role can take years to build up the skill set required for a successful career as a chef. A typical route to success from a basic entry-level position right through to getting hands-on in the kitchen, is usually completed through work experience or an apprenticeship, which would span one to four years from start to finish. The Training Room students will graduate with all the key skills required to get started as an entry level chef, significantly reducing the learning curve in the kitchen and helping them to reach their earning potential quicker.

The Training Room students will study through a series of intensive weekend workshops and will later be connected with big industry names such as Prezzo, GLH Group (Thistle) and Macdonald Hotels, to help build their careers. These companies are all looking to recruit newly qualified, fresh-out-of-the-kitchen aspirational chefs and foodies!

The Professional Cookery & Hospitality course will provide nationally recognised qualifications and the opportunity to learn in one of the best kitchen training facilities in the UK; People 1st’s Hospitality House, based in London, thanks to Barnet Southgate College.

No previous qualifications are required to sign up to the Professional Cookery & Hospitality course, however as always, The Training Room do ask that candidates have a good helping of enthusiasm and a thirst to succeed! The Training Room’s experienced, professional industry-expert tutors will offer all the guidance needed to help make students studies and practices a success. Once qualified students will work with The Training Room’s dedicated career support team who will work hard to ensure that the student gets a great start to their career in the relevant industry. This support is available for up to 3 years to ensure success! The statistics for transitions from study to placement in The Training Room’s personal training and beauty sectors have been outstanding and The Training Room expect to replicate this exceptional track record in the catering industry.
