If you haven’t heard the worrying, yet exciting news, buckle up; you’re in for a treat! Elon Musk, the rocket wizard, known for his self-driving cars and colonialism of Mars, has now been working on brain chips that make you smarter. According to CEO Elon Musk, a monkey is able to play video games via the linkup with his mind. The chip allows the user to operate gaming controls without the use of a controller or even a screen for that matter. The Monkey was basically able to play PingPong with its mind.
The company behind all this is Neuralink and here’s a little knowledge about how they’re getting on with it so far.
Neuralink’s First Prototype
As you could imagine, this is a huge leap forward for the gaming community and could create a whole new age of gaming competitors that use their minds instead of manually fiddling with controls. It’s certainly exciting to see how things are going to pan out.
Past just being a tremendous technological advancement in the gaming industry, this goes beyond just playing games but will hopefully reach the end goal of being able to help heal debilitating brain conditions or even rewind human memories. The firm's final goal is to use a computer-brain interface to allow the user to control computers and machines with their brains and through the power of thoughts, a very futuristic idea that’s seemingly becoming a reality. Their second option is to download people's consciousness into a robot.
Keeping Up With AI
According to Musk, AI is going to get smarter and Neuralink’s technology could one day allow humans to “Go along for the ride”. We’re at the brink of AI intelligence as it inevitably comes to surpass human intelligence, and to put things bluntly research labs are “running out of games to win” using AI Technology.
When you think about it, there have been huge integrations between man and machine in the 21st century. People are in fact already on the way to becoming cyborgs, when you think about the use of technology that each person uses on a day to day basis. We as humans have this tertiary “digital layer” thanks to phones, computers and applications, according to Musk.
