How to create a winning mindset

How-to-create-a-winning-mindset-01.jpgThe power of a positive mindset should not be underestimated: having an optimistic outlook can radically change your life and help to guide you towards success.

The internal conversation we have with ourselves is the driving force behind every success story… and every failure.

The difference between who you currently are and who you want to be comes first and foremost from your mindset. When you start believing in yourself and treating yourself with respect and kindness, others will follow.

Here’s how to create a winning mindset:

How-to-create-a-winning-mindset-believe-01.jpgBelieve in yourself
No matter what your goal is, to do anything great in life you have to be able to trust and believe in yourself; success is something that starts first with you. What skills can you learn, or experiences can you gain that will take you closer to reaching your goals?

Sometimes the doubts and what-ifs will creep in and try and throw you off track but having the confidence to banish any negative thoughts will soon get rid of them. Don’t give up on the things you want to achieve in life, you can do it, just believe in yourself.

Found yourself struggling with the highs and lows of life? Here are some positive life coaching techniques that can give you a sense of happiness and wellbeing.

Once you know what you want, setting goals will help you to achieve it. Whether big or small, having goals to aim for will help motivate you along the way and keep you on track. You can help yourself by setting mini goals and then larger ones once you’ve completed the smaller ones.

Mini goals can be hourly, daily and weekly targets, such as completing an hour of research, attending a lecture or signing up to a course for example. Longer-term goals could be gaining work experience, learning a new skill and performing it competently or getting a certification.

Having milestones to reach throughout your journey will be the physical proof you need to show you that you’re on track to achieving your dream.

While it’s great to have momentum behind you and to see things developing and rapidly moving forward, sometimes things slow down. This doesn’t mean that you aren’t where you should be, it’s just sometimes a longer path than you would like, but impatience stems from fear and will often lead you down the wrong road.

Successful people have to develop a patient mindset to watch, wait and be ready to pounce on the perfect opportunity when it comes along!

Don’t allow a lack of focus and procrastination to step in. Having discipline is tough but it’s the difference between getting to where you want, and almost getting to where you want to be. So, commit to your goals and responsibilities no matter what. You can even get your family and friends involved to encourage you along the way.

Author and motivational speaker Zig Ziglar once said “if you are unwilling to learn, no one can help you, but if you are determined to learn, no one can stop you“.

Whether you set out to learn a new skill or you are learning from the mistakes you’re likely to make along the way, looking for the lessons you’re being taught will help you to make the most of every challenge that comes your way; it all helps you to grow.

“You cannot live a positive life with a negative mind”.

Choosing to have a good attitude and a positive mindset will go a long way and help to determine your life. Not only is a positive attitude fantastic for your mental health, it affects every aspect of your life, from your relationships to your work, your body, diet and even how you see yourself.

So, try to look for the positives in every situation. Instead of giving yourself reasons why you can’t do something, tell yourself the reasons why you should do it and go for it!

Your happiness doesn’t come from your circumstances but from within. Make yourself happy first and you’ll see the things you want in life will fall into place.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can help with this as it is a type of talking therapy that examines the thoughts behind our actions, enabling us to evaluate the cause of our actions.
More and more people are turning to various types of therapies for help and guidance when things get a little tough, or they just want to get some troubling issues off their chest. Whatever the reason, talking through your issues, whether with a family member, close friend or counsellor can help you to feel supported and more confident about the issues that have been troubling you.
