How To Keep Business Coming In

The Training Room Students studying

If your personal training business is up and running and you’ve got a healthy – and increasingly fit – client base on your hands, you’ll want to know the best ways to keep the business coming in. Here are some of our top marketing tips…

Keep your existing clients happy

This may sound a little obvious, but maintaining your current client base is one of the best ways to keep the business coming in – a word of mouth recommendation is one of the most effective, and certainly the most cost-effective, marketing tools you have at your disposal.

Make sure you tailor every session to the exact needs of the client to ensure they get the results they want within the agreed time frame. It’s also a good idea to set clear goals and milestones so clients can regularly see their progress, as this will mean they’re less likely to drop out.

Setting your clients ‘homework’ – which can be anything from a simple exercise to a food diary or a workout journal - is also a good way to make sure they not only reach their goals, but keep you at the forefront of their mind and recommend you to their friends and family.

Use everything the internet has to offer

If your business is already up and running, you may have a website with connected social media accounts, so make sure you make the most of them.

Keep your website regularly updated. Hosting a blog with client case studies is a great way to do this and will keep both customers and search engines happy. Make sure you regularly use Facebook and Twitter, not only to post ideas for special rates or offers, but also to engage with clients and reinforce that personal touch.

Try a mail shot

Although it’s inevitable that some clients will drop out and others won’t even make it past the consultation stage, if you have their details make sure you keep hold of them and use them in a direct mail shot at a later date. This could be done via their inbox or letterbox, but whichever you choose, try to make it as personal as possible to them and their initial goals, and always try to offer an extra incentive such as new services or special rates.

Advertise yourself

Turning yourself into a walking advert is one of the simplest ways to identify yourself as a personal trainer. Stay in great shape and show prospective clients they can achieve in the gym.

Why not get a t-shirt and hoody produced with your company logo on? This could also include your contact details. You could even get decals to stick on your car or company vehicle – the more your name is out there, the more awareness your business is getting - and the bigger your prospective client base grows.
