We had such fun this weekend just gone as the Shirt Sponsors for the Bournemouth versus Sunderland game at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth. It was great to be able to support our local Premier League team and was such a great day out that we just had to tell you all about it!
As Shirt Sponsors we arrived at 11.30 to be shown into hospitality lounge where we were given a glass of bubbly to enjoy...lovely! Then it was through to the restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious lunch and more drinks! (During this time some of the TTR team was taken down to the pitch side to be photographed with some of the players- lucky them!). We also received programmes of the day, in which we were thrilled to see our new logo as Shirt Sponsors!
At 2pm, now satisfyingly full from all the food and drinks we were treated to some entertainment, this included an interview with a quiz which in which everyone in the restaurant took part!
We took our seats just before the 3pm kick off- and were thrilled when Bournemouth got off to a great start early on, with a goal scored by Gosling, assisted by Smith after just 11 minutes leaving Bournemouth 1-0 up! Unfortunately for the Cherries, this lead to Sunderland ‘upping their game’ and equalising in the 33rd minute. That said, the Sunderland fans were in fantastic voice and this really lent a lot to the atmosphere of the game.
At halftime the game was 1-1. During the break we were, of course, treated to more food and drinks- tea and cake this time- yum!
During the 2nd half of the game Sunderland were reduced to a 10-man team as Steven Pienaar was shown second yellow card for a foul on Junior Stanislas in the 59th minute- we were convinced that following Bournemouth’s early domination. However, due to a foul on Sunderland’s Anichebe by the Cherries’ Adam Smith, Jermain Defoe was able to take a penalty leaving the Black Cats 2-1 up!
Hope was nearly restored to Bournemouth’s fans when in the 85th minute of the game Josh King very nearly scored, which would have led to a draw. Unfortunately for the Cherries, Sunderland’s goalkeeper was on form, blocking the equalising goal and bagging Sunderland their 3 points for a win. The final score was 2-1 to Sunderland.
Overall, although the Cherries lost the game it was a fantastic day which was had by all of The Training Room Team who attended. We all agreed that the atmosphere was fantastic and it was such an honour to be Shirt Sponsors for a fantastic game.
To top of a wonderful day, The Training Room was presented with a signed shirt from AFCB’s man of the match- Jack Wilshere!
