There are several tips and tricks you can find on the internet on how to prepare for online exams, and some may be more misleading than others, but here at The Training Room, we have compiled a useful guide that can save your bacon during this stressful period.
Exam anxiety is completely normal, but if you wish to avoid or dampen this feeling, then follow this guide. Remember you can also contact your course tutor who will be an expert on this topic, this may help relieve stress.
Be Prepared
Make sure you have a quiet space with accessible WIFI, having your own space will enable you to concentrate with very little distraction. Also, make sure your phone is off and set to one side: Your phone can be an awful distraction when it comes to studying. It would be best if you allowed yourself an allotted time to study each day and keep all distractions away.
Another tip to being prepared is you must analyse the exam in terms of how much allotted time you should spend on each section, whether this is multiple choice or written. It is good to know how long your exam will be and how much time to spend on each question. Doing this will stop you missing out on any extra marks.
Always be realistic with your goals you're setting yourself, for example, don't leave big chunks of revision until the last minute, try to break down what you have to do and try not to stray from your allotted time slot thinking you can complete double during the next session. This will build up and eventually become unmanageable.
Take mock exams; most online courses will have the option to take a mock exam; these tend to be not far off from the real thing. If you're passing these, you will be well on your way to passing the real thing; this will also remove some stress and ease your pre-exam nerves.
Don't Cheat - It's Not Worth It
Try not to be tempted to cheat on your exams, the reason behind this is you're in fact only cheating yourself. You must remember that the information you're learning in this exam is expected to be applied later on in life when you get your dream job. There's a way of passing your exams, but cheating isn't one; your tutor or someone else will catch you cheating. The moral of the story is don't cheat as it is very easy to get caught these days, especially using online resources.
Taking any exam can be scary but what you need to remember is that at the end of it all you will be qualified in a career you love, for the rest of your working career. The effort you put in will be recognised when you receive your results back.
