Whether you’re a massive Love Island fan or just simply looking for some summer beauty tips, we’ve got the low down on how you
can look like a glowing goddess this summer!
If, like us, you can’t get enough of the villa, the girl’s bronzed bodies and glam make-up looks, make sure you follow these beauty tips and techniques that will have you looking like a sun-kissed glamazon too; here’s how to get the love island look!
In order to stop your makeup from sliding off in the scorching heat, you’ll need to prep your skin properly with a primer. Look for long-wear primers that will help to control oils and help to mattify your skin.
Buy your foundation and primer at the same time and don’t forget to check the ingredients – remember that water and oil don’t mix so you’ll need to make sure they are both either water based or oil based – if you mix, your makeup will slide off!
We’ve all heard the saying ‘less is more’ and this is definitely true when it comes to your summer foundation. Save your full coverage foundation for the evenings and opt instead for a tinted moisturiser or BB cream for the day time, you can always top up the coverage with a concealer on any areas that need it.
If possible, buy your foundation once you have tanned so you can match the colour perfectly. If you can’t, choose a foundation a few shades darker than you are now, but don’t go overboard – you can always warm it up with bronzer if you need to.
Look for bases with an SPF in them to keep your skin protected!
You can’t rock a Love Island look without a great tan!
Here’s a quick guide to tanning techniques
that will have you looking like a golden goddess on the beach this year!
For a quick fix, grab your favourite matte bronzer and dust over the higher parts of your face where the sun would naturally tan you (your forehead, cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and your chin).
You won’t want your face to be a different colour to your body, so don’t forget to add some bronzer to your neck too!
These days it’s all about the highlight! For the daytime, choose a cream-based highlighter, this will stay in place and last longer then a powder highlighter, plus you can apply it with your fingers too for a quick and easy look!
For a show-stopping evening glow, highlight your shoulders, décolletage and the front of your legs for an Instagram worthy glow!
Brows have made a huge comeback in recent years and it’s a trend that’s not going away anytime soon. There aren’t many girls that would leave their house without their brows in place and your summer holiday is no exception. For a long-lasting look, choose a waterproof and smudge proof eyebrow pencil in a colour that matches your brow hair.
We often wear less makeup when it’s hot so avoid choosing a colour that’s too dark as your brows will look too heavy as a result.
Dani may prefer the blow-dry method (each to their own Dani!) but you could always opt for a lash tint or lash extensions for luscious lashes like Laura if you don’t want to wear mascara on holiday.
If you do decide to go with a mascara, opt for a waterproof one to make sure it doesn’t smudge when you’re in the pool.

A decent primer can save the day here! Not only will your eyeshadow stay looking flawless for longer, it will help to keep everything in place and not smudge or fade later on. For a daytime look, switch to lighter colours or just simply use a little liner and mascara. For an evening look, stick to warmer colours like bronzes, peaches, and warm browns to compliment your tan and make your eyes stand out.
Apply a little bronze or black eyeliner, a wash of golden eyeshadow and an extra layer of mascara for a quick yet dramatic eye look that’s perfect for dinner or cocktails in the evening!
Love her or loathe her, you’ve probably wondered how Megan achieves her enviable pout on the show. Megan loves a bold lip and is often seen sporting a red lip during the evenings. For kissable lips that don’t smudge, go for a liquid lipstick for a long-lasting look.
you can always add a little gloss on top if you prefer a glossy pout, plus you can wear the gloss alone during the day.

The summer is full of amazing things but melting makeup, smeared lipstick and smudged eyeliner isn’t among them! If you’ve spent a good amount of time in front of the mirror perfecting your glam look, the last thing you want is for it to melt in the heat. Make sure you invest in a good setting spray to keep your makeup in place (you can thank us later!)
