Rebecca - Personal Trainer
What was the reason you chose to take a Personal Training course?
Since I was about 9 years old, I’ve wanted to be a personal trainer. I have been heavily involved in sports for most of my life – including trampolining, athletics, swimming, all-star cheerleading – so this was a route I was always going to take.
What were you doing before the course?
Before starting the course, I was working as a Business Admin Apprentice in an office. After being sat at a desk job for over a year, I knew it was time to move on to a career I wanted. So, I searched online and found The Training Room!
Why did you choose The Training Room?
Once I found The Training Room online, I received a call from an advisor. They gave me all the information I needed to make a decision and were both understanding and encouraging so it felt like a perfect fit.
What did you enjoy about the course?
I enjoyed how much of a close-knit group all the students were, which meant we helped and motivated each other to the max. Although I was the youngest in the group, I never felt like I was treated differently in any way. It was an experience I’ll never forget. All of us that qualified ensured we booked our CPD course together so we could catch up. My tutor, Nick Hewitt, was superb and was always thorough if we weren’t too confident with a topic. He also gave me some great exercise ideas for an interview; something that I am now looking to implement within the gym!
What’s the biggest challenge you encountered on your course?
I was able to fit the course perfectly around my job and sporting commitments. My biggest challenge, however, was learning the theory whilst juggling completing my LAP and full-time work. But, once you start sticking to it, it starts to sink in and gets a lot easier!
Tell me about your career since graduating from The Training Room - what have you done and what does your future look like?
I’m currently working at Feel Good Health Club and have also started my own business, ‘RJFITNESS’, where I am a freelance personal trainer. I’ve booked onto studio cycling, gym-based boxing, metabolic circuits Zumba basics and studying my nutrition!
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of taking a course with us?
If it’s something that you dream about, then 100% go for it. The Training Room gives so much support and they helped me pass all my exams first time – now I’m in the job of my dreams!
