Personal Training Success Stories: Robert Pritchard

Robert Pritchard

Robert Pritchard decided to change career, aged 20. From working as a supermarket merchandiser in Northampton to becoming a personal trainer.

This is his story of how, with the help of The Training Room he was able to turn his love of the gym and fitness into a career.

What inspired you to become a personal trainer?

I am a fitness freak. Before I became a personal trainer, I went to the gym five times a week, as well as playing football, this is what inspired me to want to have a career in personal training. It’s something that I enjoy doing and being able to really change people’s lives attracted me to the industry.

I’ve always been into fitness. I started running when I was 12 and have always been active. Until the age of 18 I used to play youth football for Rushden & Diamonds. My career is now what I love to do, and I’ve really embraced the chance of being able to do this and change other people’s lives.

How are you finding being a self-employed personal trainer?

What I like best about running my own business is being my own boss. Everyone would love to be their own boss, and being in this industry allows you to do that. One of my favourite things about being a PT is that you can work for as many hours as you want to. If you really want to work hard and get your name out there, you should be able to work long shifts and always be on your feet talking to people, and this is exactly what I do.

It took me just a week to get my first client, and the gym I worked in really helped me get started. I currently have about 20 clients, and my goal is 40 per month!

What would you say to somebody considering The Training Room?

I would definitely recommend TTR (The Training Room). The amount of support and quality education you receive is fantastic. I found the training programme really good fun. Everyone on the course was really friendly, and the tutors are superb. They are very helpful and have good experience under their belts. There are so many doors a career in personal training can open, and it’s really worthwhile. I am in the process of creating my own website and will soon be promoting my business on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

I love what I do and everyone has the chance of turning their passions into careers with courses like this from The Training Room.
