An Overview of the Health and Social Care Industry

According to grb.uk.com the health and social care sector is one of the biggest employers in the UK and as life expectancy increases the industry keeps growing, with more focus on enabling independent living for the elderly in their own homes. This in turn has led to an increase in the need for community based services.

The main employer in this area is the National Health Service (NHS) who employ around 1.7 million people, however additional employment is also available within the areas of private healthcare, voluntary and not-for-profit sectors.
