How Do I Become a Beauty Therapist?

Beauty Therapists tend to be level 2 qualified as a minimum – this means they can work in salons to deliver beauty treatments like manicures and waxing. To start working in salons as a make-up artist, nail technician or beauty/salon therapist you don’t need particular experience. As you gain more skills and confidence, you’ll find you gravitate towards certain treatments. You’ll then have the opportunity to specialise your career and do what you love all the time!

To become a beauty/salon therapist you’ll need to know how to expertly deliver treatments like waxing (using hot and cold methods), hand and foot nail care, designing and applying nail art. If you’re not qualified, we can help!

With internationally recognised qualifications, you can get your career in beauty started in no time – and take your job in beauty around the world! By becoming a qualified beauty therapist, you’ll have the option over how, when and where you work: take your career on board cruise ships, work in a salon, or set up your own business as soon as you’ve finished your course.

The Beauty & Nail Specialist course covers:

You'll cover a range of treatments that include:
    • Care of the skin - to include cleansing, exfoliation, facial massage and the use of face masks
    • Care of the eyebrows and eyelashes - to include shaping and lash and brow tinting
    • Application of all make-up products - to include recognition of face shapes and corrective make-up
    • Care of the hands and feet - to include nail care, exfoliation, massage and nail painting
    • Waxing – to include removal of hair using hot and cool wax methods
    • Salon reception duties
    • Care of the nails on the hand including hand massage and the application of polish
    • Care of the nails on the feet including foot massage and the application of polish
    • How to apply, maintain and remove nail enhancements
    • The design and application of nail art
    • Using Gel Polish by CND Shellac: master the industry renowned Gel Polish Manicure to provide the highest quality manicure to clients
